In the heart of the world’s largest ski area, St Martin de Belleville is an ideal base for quick access to the 3 Vallées, with its 600km of slopes.

From the village, an eight-person gondola and a new six-pack chairlift whisk to the top of the mountain in under 15 minutes. From there it’s possible to ski down to Méribel, Mottaret, Les Menuires or head further afield to Courchevel, or Val Thorens — Europe’s highest ski resort.

The 3 Vallées is an intermediates’ haven, with some 77 per cent of the slopes classified blue or red, and with more pistes than any other ski area in the world, it’s virtually impossible to exhaust the terrain in a season… let alone a week.

In the Belleville Valley — St Martin, Les Menuires and Val Thorens — is some of the area’s best off-piste with itineraries that take you into the wilderness of the backcountry. A guide is highly recommended for such adventures, and Martyn can help with arranging one.
